Composition

• Silibum marianum – 70 mg
• Capparis spinusa – 50 mg
• Chichorium intybus – 60 mg
• Terminalia arjona – 30 mg
• Achillea melifolium – 40 mg
• Solonum nigrum – 70 mg
• Berberis aristata – 50 mg
• Tinospra cardifolia – 60 mg
• Fumeria officinalis – 30 mg

Indication:

Hepasil suspension is indicated as adjunctive therapy in the treatment of liver disease of varying etiologies;

• Acute hepatitis
• Chronic persistent hepatitis
• Chronic aggressive hepatitis
• Cirrhosis of the liver
• Fatty liver
• Toxic or metabolic liver damage.

It has been shown to protect the liver from damage caused by general anesthesia.

Mode of action:

• Hepasil restores the functional efficiency of the liver by protecting the hepatic parenchyma and promoting hepatocellular regeneration.
• The antiperoxidative activity of hepasil prevents the loss of functional integrity of the cell membrane, maintains cytochrome p-450, hastens the recovery period and ensures early restoration of hepatic functions in infective hepatitis.
• Hepasil facilitates rapid elimination of acetaldehyde, the toxic intermediate metabolite of alcohol metabolism, and ensures protection from alcohol-induced hepatic damage.
• Hepasil diminishes the lipotropic activity in chronic alcoholism, and prevents fatty infiltration of the liver.
• In pre-cirrhotic conditions, hepasil arrests the progress of the disease and prevents further liver damage.
• As a daily health supplement, hepasil improves appetite, the digestion and assimilation processes, and promotes weight gain.

Clinical pharmacology:

Hepasil acts by stabilizing liver cell membranes, thereby reducing their permeability to certain toxic substances.

• This stabilization may occur as the result of competitive inhibition between hepasil and hepatoxic substances at the level of the cell membrance.
• The results of pharmacological testing indicate that hepasil protects liver cells from damage induced by agents ( alcohol, carbon tetrachloride, general anesthetics) known to have destructive effects on liver cells.
• Published clinical data demonstrate that hepasil is safe, and well tolerated.
• When administered as adjunctive thereapy to patients with a variety of liver diseases, hepasil improves clinical and biochemical parameters.

Indication

• Viral hepatitis
• Jaundice
• Anaemia
• Liver cirrhosis
• Heartburn
• Hepatic dyspepsia
• Dull pain in r.H.C painful & tenderness.
• Enlargement of liver and spleen
• Loose motions with blood
• Odema & ascities

Contraindications:

Hepasil is contraindicated in individuals with a hypersensitivity to the product, or when mechanical obstacles are present in the biliary tracts.

Precautions:

No conditions have been encountered which would preclude the administration of hepasil.

Pregnancy and lactation:

Hepasil has not been reported to alter normal pregnancy, and there has been no evidence of embryo toxicity.

There is no evidence of impaired development of the breast-fed infant.

Adverse reactions:

Hepasil is normally well tolerated, even when the physician intends to administer it over long periods of time.

At high doses, a slight laxative and diuretic effect may be observed.

Dosage:

Children 5ml (one teaspoonful) and adults 10ml (two teaspoonfuls) thrice a day or as directed by the physician.
